PASSION DON’T PAY BILLS.

Hello Everyone, Welcome to my Tedx Talk, this feels like a stage right now, and I can see you all, well seated.
Am going to be acting @feladurotoye today on a very important subject I titled "Passion Don’t Pay Bills". I can see you’re all eager well, me too am so nervous right now ( Pimples all over my body now).

Someone was speaking to me recently,and was like, "Philip, I like your passion for Tech, I admire it alot, I also love programming, it has always been my desire, I have all the gadgets I need, I have the vision, and a little background knowledge, but I don't have the time. Please tell me what drives you, maybe I can be ignited by hearing your story" end of quote.

Well, I replied him, and we talked on the phone for 45 minutes, 26 seconds precisely ( Na him call Sha).
But after he ended the call,I felt there are somethings I didn't say, you know the problems with unprepared speeches naa!!!
I feel my understanding of the subject from my small experience will help someone in this audience today ( Even if na 1 person).

My brother ( abi na sister you be), hear me well, Passion Don't pay bills, you have to make out time, put in resources, make sacrifices, burn candles ( PHCN is not reliable) to fuel that passion and make something out of that passion.
I was carrying passion in my head for the first 2 years I began to learn to code, I didn't write a single program, but I was wearing the status of a professional already ( Self deceit).

I was to go on my 6 months Siwes program in my school, and I applied to 2 different places, The first was a government agency, willing to pay me 40k monthly, The second was a private firm where I was required to pay 87k to run a 3 months program on web development along side my Siwes.
I got accepted in the first place, but I didn't like the place, very dull, only office paper works, carrying files up and down. I declined and went to the second place ( I know say I be mumu, don't say it out please).

I paid the 87k ( On 3 installments) and ran the program with them along side my Siwes, Why did I come up with my story? Sacrifice !! You have to make really silly decisions at times to drive your passion to the permanent site.
Some of you here switch passion every day depending on which one is more lucrative and less demanding ( My dear, na short cut to buy Benz you dey find).

I got a contract to build a site with some specific functions, I didn’t have an idea how to go about it, but I’ve already packaged myself like a pro, I can’t mess up. I took the offer, gave it to someone very good,gave him 80% of the deal just to sit with him and learn it. Investment !!!
If you really want to get something done, you’ll find a way, if not, you’ll find an excuse.
In whatever field you’re into, success in it does not come by the level of Passion you have for it, you have to create time to learn a little about it everyday. It’s those little knowledge that accumulates and speedens up your payday.

I saved the best point for the last, You must have a place for God in your chosen career path, now I don’t know what you worship, but do it anyways, be truthful to yourself, serve a God that can give and take Life,not the one that can only take when permitted.
My Tedx talk won’t be complete if I don’t mention that, I’ve earned well over that 87k I paid for the Internship program along side my Siwes.
